Welcome back to my new, but old, but now new education blog, journal thing.

Been thinking a lot recently about my presence on the web as an educator. Where I post, when I post, how I post. I’ve been looking to do something different from what I have been doing.

Over the last few years, along with many other educators, I migrated from Twitter to LinkedIn. I have enjoyed my time on there. The conversations have been thoughtful and engaging.

The discussion there have helped me deepen my understanding of trends in education. It has been helpful as we’ve managed the transition into an AI world.

Recently, I have found the experience less interesting. The platform has gone the way of most other social media. Its finely tuned algorithm prioritizes hot takes and viral engagement. As a result, the remaining content lacks depth.

Much of it is AI-generated and is simply there to “fill the void.”

I’m not alone in experiencing this or participating in it. I have admittedly used AI-generated content to make posts in order to “keep up with the Joneses”.

And that’s why I am launching the “Whenever Education” Substack.

So what will you find on here?

• Real-time thoughts and musings about what I am interacting with in the world of education

• Authentic writing from an admittedly amateur writer that is still trying to find his voice

• Resources and links to things that I find interesting

• Occasional hot takes on things that annoy me in the world of education

I have no idea when or how long I’ll be doing this for. It seems like a fun idea, and that’s how I tend to operate. If something seems interesting, I’ll follow that thread until it stops occupying my mind.
